Prof.dr. Pavel Kabat, Full Professor and Chair Holder Earth System Science and Climate Change and Scientific Director of the CcSP Programme Office, has been appointed to the Delta Committee. This committee will think about the Dutch coastal protection and development in the near future. The Committee's Chair Holder is the former Minister of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality, Dr. Cees Veerman. The composition of this think-tank varies with people from science, private sectors and governmental organisations.

Not only the rise of the sea level and other climatologically developments will be investigated, but also the ecological, economical and other aspects will be taken into account.

The first report with recommendations will be published in 2008; the State Secretary, Mrs Tineke Huizinga, intents to use the committee's advice into the first National Waterplan (2009).
